ACE recommends Wild Animal Initiative for 4th consecutive year

November 8, 2023

Animal Charity Evaluators (ACE) is once again recommending Wild Animal Initiative as one of the best animal welfare organizations to support.

ACE is an independent research organization dedicated to identifying the most cost-effective ways of helping animals. Through an extensive evaluation process, ACE recommends the select few organizations globally where donations for animal welfare can achieve the maximum positive impact.

As in 2020, 2021, and 2022, ACE’s recommendation is based on three main factors: our unique strategy to help animals by accelerating the growth of an academic field, our track record of success so far, and our award-winning work culture¹ that makes it possible for us to sustain that progress.

In this year’s evaluation, here’s some of what ACE had to say about…

Our strategy:
We estimate that all of Wild Animal Initiative’s expenditures on programs go toward high-priority animal groups (wild animals) and high-priority interventions (research, education, and skill and network building).

How we'll put donations to use:
We estimate that Wild Animal Initiative could effectively use $3,500,000 in additional donations (beyond their projected revenue) through 2025. With that funding, they plan to increase their research output and make a more significant impact on the scientific community by showcasing what wild animal welfare research should look like and identifying critical directions for additional study. By supporting Wild Animal Initiative, you play a crucial role in helping them achieve their plans and creating a better world for wild animals.

The bottom line:
While we expect all of our evaluated charities to be excellent examples of effective advocacy, Wild Animal Initiative is exceptional even within that group. Giving to Wild Animal Initiative is an excellent opportunity to support initiatives that create the most positive change for animals.

You can read ACE’s full report and learn about their evaluation methods on their website.

ACE’s continued approval suggests that our work has proven to be highly effective, and that we continue to gain momentum both in the scientific community and among animal welfare advocates. More than ever, we’re grateful to work within a movement where independent researchers carefully assess our strengths and weaknesses and donors are willing to invest in ambitious theories of change.

In light of ACE’s recommendation, will you maximize your impact for wild animals by donating to Wild Animal Initiative?
