Outreach

Our services support the professional needs of researchers working on wild animal welfare.

We go beyond funding to connect wild animal welfare researchers with the resources they need. In addition to the services below, Wild Animal Initiative will soon offer expanded networking options, technical training opportunities, and seminar and workshop series.

Events

We host and organize a variety of events to introduce wild animal welfare science and provide researchers with the tools required to study wild animal welfare. Our workshops, seminars, symposia, and talks are hosted online or held at conferences throughout Europe and North America.

Networking

We offer networking opportunities for our online research community.

Connect with other wild animal welfare researchers worldwide through a listserv and contacts database. Membership is free and involves just a few screening questions.

Career advising

We advise researchers on strategies to pursue a career in wild animal welfare, or adapt their research to answer wild animal welfare questions.

Collaboration

We partner with scientists to plan, conduct, and publish original wild animal welfare research that capitalizes on their expertise, addresses impactful research questions, and meets our rigorous standards for ethical animal research.

Funding assistance

We fund wild animal welfare research directly through our Grants Program. We also connect researchers to other sources of funding by introducing them to mission-aligned foundations or assisting them with crowdfunding.

Proposal review

We help funders evaluate wild animal welfare research proposals.
