An introduction to wild animal welfare

Last month, Deputy Director Cameron Meyer Shorb gave a talk on wild animal welfare as part of Brown University’s Effective Altruism seminar. He illustrates the scale of wild animal suffering, examines his own biases about human participation in nature, and addresses the potential impact of research to improve wild animals’ lives.

Cameron Meyer Shorb

Cameron is Executive Director of Wild Animal Initiative. Cameron studied biology at Carleton College, where his research focused on tallgrass prairie ecology. Before Wild Animal Initiative, he worked on the policy and operations teams at the Good Food Institute, where he built coalitions with other nonprofits, lobbied state and federal legislators, and designed hiring and human resource processes. Cameron is located in Brooklyn, New York.
