What can (and should) we do to help wild animals?

Most wild animals struggle to survive every day. Unfortunately, preserving habitats or species does not guarantee that the animals themselves have good lives free of disease, hunger, or other afflictions. Mal Graham (then known as Michelle), Executive Director of Wild Animal Initiative, makes the case for helping animals in the wild live better lives.

Mal is Strategy Director at Wild Animal Initiative. Mal completed their PhD in Engineering Mechanics at Virginia Tech, with research on the movement behaviors of jumping and gliding snakes. They studied physics and philosophy at the University of Oxford. Mal has also worked with animals in shelter, veterinary, farm, and zoo environments. They are located in Philadelphia.
